This was the first day on school in Sassuolo. We started at 9 o’clock with a welcome of the headmaster and the mayor. Because it was the 8th of March (International Woman’s day) the headmaster gave the female teachers a flower and also one girl from each country to celebrate this day.
After that the Dutch, German and Estonian students were divided in three groups and each group got a presentation about Sassuolo, Modena and Bologna. After we had a short break, the foreign students were divided in mixed groups and each group met an Italian teacher and followed a lesson with other Italian students.
At 12.15 we had a lunch with Italian specialities which the parents made. Later on the day we had workshop of the ideal Europian School. This was a continuation of the work what we had done in Holland, Germany and Estonia. When the workshop ended some students went home, but we went with a group to the centre of Sassuolo, where we eat pizza and gelato (ice cream).
( Meltem).
I’ve learnt that Italian people eat a warm meal in the afternoon like spaghetti. In Holland we aren’t used to that. I also have seen that Italian people are very friendly to guests. Their was something what I noticed most of the boys were sunglasses even when there is no sun. They wear it because then they feel ‘lekker’.
(Giorgia)
In Holland the most students go to school with the bike. Here in Italy we always go by car, not only to school but everywhere. The Italian and Dutch students learnt each other words from their own language.
We think we’ll learn more about each others cultures in the following days.
Ciao & Doei
